When you ask most people to describe paradise, they’ll likely mention blue skies, gentle waves, and sandy beaches. Ormond Beach, Florida is paradise for roughly 40,000 people, and could be your paradise, too. Even if you still have decades before retirement, why wait to enjoy this gem by the sea? Whether you’re a first-time homeowner looking to start a family or a soon-to-be retiree, Ormond Beach is a great place to live. Located on the north part of Florida’s east coast, Ormond Beach is much bigger than many of its neighboring communities and much less crowded than Southern Florida communities.

History
The Timucuan people lived near modern-day Ormond Beach for at least 10,000 years before outside settlers came in the 1600s. The area came under Spanish control in the early 1700s and the British assumed control soon after. Ormond Beach is named after James Ormond, an Irish-Scottish sea captain who brought Franciscan missionaries to Florida on orders from King Ferdinand VII of Spain. Ormond Beach was formally incorporated in 1880, and soon became a popular destination for snowbirds and retirees.
